Housing corporations

In accordance with the duties set out in the BBSH legislation, housing corporations are to undertake, without profit motive, the construction, management, and rental of affordable living accommodation, and, as such, form the linchpin of the Dutch public housing sector.

Developments for housing corporations

In recent years, housing corporations have been confronted with changes in regulations that have directly affected their core business (for example, the separation of social and commercial activities, pressure on loans guaranteed by WSW, introduction of vpb obligation, termination of the concession on the VAT integration charge).

What is more, housing corporations have recently encountered a stagnating housing market, with an increase in integrity incidents (building fraud, excessive remuneration for directors, and unacceptably risky investments) and with increasing criticism of the commercial activities of housing corporations.

The changed environment for the Housing Corporation requires a continuous process of adaptation within the organisation.

Mazars adds value
