Growth and development

Freedom is a state of mind and having freedom of choice is important, because every choice you make impacts on your development. This is why we encourage our staff to continue making choices. At Mazars, your career will not be mapped out for you. You will receive supervision from a personal coach, attend courses to improve your professional and personal skills and undergo individual evaluation and other interviews with your supervisor, all which will help you to discover your specific talents. How you use these talents is key to your personal and professional development.

Staff are rewarded for these talents with the appropriate benefits packages.

Primary elements of remuneration

Your salary depends on your development. All employees can look up the details of the salary scale for their job level, including the minimum and maximum salary. The holiday allowance is equal to 8.33% of the gross annual salary and is paid out every May. Every year in August, the so-called ‘thirteen month’s salary’ is paid out (not dependent upon results).

Therefore, your monthly salary is paid out 14 times over the year.

Pension

All employees aged 20 and over are included in the pension scheme which is paid-up and based on average earnings. The pension you accrue is not withheld from your salary, because Mazars pays everything!

Expense allowance

If your job requires extensive travel, you will receive an expense allowance. The expense allowance is net and is to be spent on costs incurred when you are with clients (such as your lunch or parking fees) or on entertainment expenses.

Days´ holiday

Full-time employees and managers with client contact are entitled to 28 and 29 holiday days, respectively. Employees who have not yet reached management level can take any overtime worked as time off.

In consultation with your supervisor, this time off can be taken during a quiet period or when you need to study for an important examination. If you want more holiday days, you can buy up to eight per year. Conversely, you can sell up to eight holiday days per year, if you do not want to take them all as time off.

Leased car

If your job involves extensive travel, you may qualify for a leased car.

If you are still in your first year of employment at Mazars or do not yet have a permanent contract, Mazars will provide you with a temporary car. Afterwards, you can choose a leased car yourself. You can find the standard lease amount associated with your job in the General Terms and Conditions of Employment (Algemene Arbeidsvoorwaarden). ING Car Lease has an Internet application enabling you to "assemble" your own car, so you can check whether it fits your budget.

Employees at the junior manager level and above can opt to have the standard lease amount paid out.

Travel allowance

If you either do not qualify for or do not want a leased car, you may be eligible for a travel allowance to cover commuting expenses. Of course, it is possible to receive a tax-free allowance of € 0.19 per kilometre travelled (up to a maximum of 40 km one way), but you can also opt for a route-specific public transport pass (ov-trajectkaart) or even a company bicycle!

Telephone allowance

Employees at senior level and above may qualify for a telephone allowance to cover business calls.

Study leave

If you are attending an external work-related course of study and the lessons are inside your regular working hours, you are eligible for paid, or partially paid, study leave. You can specify which days you want to take off for this purpose in the study agreement you conclude with Mazars. Mazars will pay your salary for 50% of the hours you take off as study leave.

Study expense allowance

If you want to attend an external, specialist educational programme or course, you may be eligible to have the study expenses (tuition, books, examination fee) reimbursed. To qualify for this allowance, the partner-shareholder in charge must first grant his/her approval.

Salary savings/life-course savings scheme

You can opt to participate in the salary savings or life-course savings scheme. In order to qualify, you must have been employed at Mazars as of 1 January of the year in question.

Company fitness scheme

Mazars has concluded a contract with two nationwide sport and recreation organisations, so employees now receive a discount on their membership.

Bonus scheme

Mazars has a generous bonus scheme for staff who bring new employees or new clients to the company.

Group health insurance

Mazars has concluded a group contract with its health insurance provider in which employees, their spouses or partners and children can participate.

Discounts on insurance products

Mazars provides its employees with discounts on insurance products.

WGA shortfall insurance

A group insurance policy for the shortfall resulting from the Return to Work (Partially Disabled) Regulations (WGA) has been concluded for employees and is paid in full by Mazars.

Part-time vs. full-time

Mazars offers its employees the option of working part-time with an attractive benefits package. Mazars pays not 80%, but 100% of the study costs of employees who work 32 hours or more per week, as well as reimbursing 100% of other expenses. For employees who work fewer than 32 hours per week (less than 80%) the following applies: a percentage of study costs and other expenses is reimbursed equalling the average of the percentage worked and the full-time percentage (100%). So freedom really is a state of mind!
