Culture

In general the Dutch are open, tolerant and liberal. Dutch people will speak their minds and expect to be looked in the eye. This manner may seem awkward to foreigners, but the impulse comes from the desire to be direct and honest.

The Dutch society is a society with a high level of equality and relatively low level of authority. Furthermore, the Netherlands is well known as a health society in which health care is properly taken care of. In general the Dutch are outward looking, friendly, open minded to other cultures and known for their trading nature. The inflow of immigrants in the densily populated country over the last decades has sometimes lead to some frictions, however, racial and religious tolerance remain at a very high level.
