Ton Tuinier about #MazarsForGood

Ton Tuinier, managing partner, explains what sustainability means to him and gives examples of how he sees the MazarsForGood theme within the organization.

What does sustainability mean to you?

Taking care of people and improving working conditions. Taking care of the environment. But also taking responsibility to educate and emancipating people especially the ones that are less fortunate and thus may feel that they have limited opportunities.

I believe it is important to be more careful with each other, with the environment and with the society we live in. I am committed to creating and adding value in my executive role within Mazars, and also at a more personal level.

How do you see the topic MazarsForGood within our organisation?

I believe that performance and responsibility go hand in hand and that Mazars plays a major role in the future of our economies and society. Our sustainability services have been designed to help organisations achieve responsible and long-term growth. The increasing public interest in ethics and in how companies create value, as well as the growing focus of regulators on sustainability has given rise to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) metrics. With experts able to respond to increasing challenges, Mazars is in a position to serve and advise clients in an ever more complex space. We have developed our expertise in line with our commitment to doing Business. For Good, aimed at reengineering trust in business, empowering people and nurturing collective responsibility.

Do you have an example of the development of sustainable services at Mazars?

I strongly value a quality-driven culture and the corresponding conduct. This is reflected in the way I interact within the organisation and in my interaction with stakeholders. I am personally and actively involved in our firm’s diversity and corporate social responsibility issues. I try to lead by example and this can be reflected in the most simple and smallest way. I use public transport as frequently as possible and I actively stimulate video-conferencing to limit interoffice travelling. Stimulating Mazarians to follow my example is something that takes time but being consistent in my own behaviour is something I strive for. Leading by example is in this case the most effective.
