Mark Lucas Luijckx Partner | Member of the Executive Board
The fiscal landscape, and consequently the role of a tax adviser, is in constant flux. This requires a strong market-driven and client-driven approach within the context of current legislation and regulations. We too experience an increase in the regulatory burden imposed by the government and more stringent requirements on the implementation of our activities. In order to respond properly and to make the relevant strategic choices, our vision of quality in conjunction with relevant knowledge, professionalism and integrity is our point of departure when we consider issues. Innovation plays an important role in the widest sense of the word.
Education and work experience
- Leiden university – LL.M in Dutch law and Fiscal law
- Nyenrode Business University – Professional Services Management
- Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA)
In 1997, I started with Mazars and have been active as a partner since 2006. I have specialised fully in advising high-net-worth individuals. In 2012, I joined the management team of the global Tax service line, where I worked on developing and professionalising tax in the context of the international privately owned business market. From 2014 to 2016, I was Deputy Head of Tax in Mazars Group with responsibility for developing and integrating new tax practices in the various countries.
Executive Board Mazars in the Netherlands
In September 2016, I joined the Executive Board. In that role I was responsible for developing the tax practice in the Netherlands and I dealt with the HR, Legal and Innovation portfolios. In 2021, I started a new four-year term on the Board. Alongside my consultancy activities for high-net-worth individuals, I’m responsible for the Tax service line and I will chart the course in this changing fiscal landscape. Alongside my responsibility for the tax practice, I will also work on IT, Legal and Business and Innovation.
Within my daily practice I focus on advising high-net-worth individuals in the widest sense of the word, particularly in the area of national and international estate planning and tax planning.
Specific client experience
High-net-worth individuals often operate both nationally and internationally and need advice on pre-immigration or emigration planning, tax compliance, family governance and asset protection. Our working method is top-down, where we start with the natural person and move down to the active company.
As I am personally dedicated to making a social contribution, I am an active Board member of a number of charities. In these roles I try to contribute to achieve the objectives of the charities.
Furthermore, I also work as an editor or contributor for several tax magazines and I am a lecture at the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers.
