Training and work experience
René is a graduate from the school for higher education in economics and management in Enschede. In addition, he qualified as an accountant at the Netherlands Organisation of Accounting Consultants (NOvAA). On completion of his degree programme, he worked in the Tax and Customs Administration's business taxpayers department for a short while, followed by six years in banking.
In 1990, René joined Ten Kate Huizinga as a junior accountant. René has been active as an independent SME accountant since 1995. He made partner at Ten Kate Huizinga in 2000. As a Ten Kate Huizinga director between 2006 and 2017, René was responsible for decisions affecting clients, staff and shareholders alike.
With Mazars' takeover of Ten Kate Huizinga on 1 January 2018, René became a partner/shareholder at Mazars Netherlands.
René supports directors and principal shareholders of family and other businesses with growth ambitions as an all-round consultant. In addition, he provides assistance to start-ups and scale-ups and issues financing advice. Unsurprisingly, his main focus is on the technology sector.
Having witnessed the dynamics within family businesses at first hand, René also serves as a confidential adviser to such businesses. His day-to-day consultancy activities cover such topics as business strategy, financing advice, business growth and value creation.
René serves as the treasurer of FC Twente's oldest business association, the '10 Club'.
